Rotax National CHAMPIONS
The Rotax National Champion is the winner of the Rotax Pro Tour Series in Australia. The national series attracts drivers from all over the country and New Zealand, all vying for the prestigeous title of National Champion in their respected Rotax category.
The categories that compete to be Rotax National Champions are :
- Junior Max - 145kg (12-16 years)
- Rotax Light - 160kg (16 years or older)
- Rotax Heavy - 180kg (16 years or older)
- DD2 - 173kg (16 years or older)
- DD2 Masters - 180kg (32 years or older)
Since 2011, the Rotax National Champions have been treated to a surprise gift in addition to their prestigious Trophy and Title. The gifts are revealed at the last round on the day of the Finals, and reflect a local culture or theme significant to the event’s location for that year.
Previously, the 2012 gifts presented in Dubbo NSW featured an Aboriginal theme recognising the local culture and community living in the area. The winners of the event were awarded with a personalised didgeridoo, painted and engraved with Australian Champion, as a special gift to remember their achievement.
The 2013 gifts were presented at Victoria’s Puckapunyal circuit, which neighbours an Australian Defence Force Base. This gave an Australian Army theme to the event, and featured the iconic Military Akubra Hat as the special gift to the winners, personalised with their Australian Champion status.
in 2014 the National Champions were presented with an Australian Title Boxing Belt in Queensland at Ipswich Raceway, which was the final event, and the first ever National Title held at night under lights.
