Pro Tour 2022 Announcements and Updates

ProTour Announcements and Updates

They say we live in strange times….. That feels like the understatement of all time.

1/ As you all will be aware, supply chain issues with raw materials, along with rampant freight and fuel price increases, combined with staffing issues worldwide due to COVID, have led to a lot of our everyday purchases becoming scarce.

Rotax has had a twenty plus year relationship with Mojo Tyres, but the factory can simply not supply the volume of tyres being ordered due to the above challenges. This situation will not be altered in the short term.

All countries are in the same predicament, but southern hemisphere countries are affected worse given the challenging and costly shipping expenses and delays we face.

A large number of RMC events were looking pretty grim for tyre supply. In an effort to facilitate everyone being able to continue with some normality, Rotax has come to an agreement with MG tires to supply a large proportion of southern hemisphere RMC championships with tyres in certain classes. So where to for Australia?

We have to thank KNSW for their support to enable a change of tyres so quickly. Further DPE as the local supplier of MG has stepped up to supply tyres immediately out of their stockholding so that we can race on unaffected.

RaceMax has enough stock to supply the rest of the series with the usual MOJO Tyres (at current usage levels) in Micro Max, Mini Max, Rotax Heavy, DD2 & DD2 Masters. Our 2 biggest classes, Rotax Junior and Rotax Light will change to the 2022 CIK/FIA Homologated MG SM tyre for the balance of the year. Test tyres are available now from RaceMax or your local dealer.

So with that decision comes some other curly issues for RaceMax as the event organisers. The MG SM is sold in Australia at a very low price compared with other markets. The retail price is $240 per set. In an effort to get everyone on a better cost structure, the following pricing will be in effect from Geelong Round 2 of ProTour 2022. EVERYONE SAVES MONEY!!!!!!

2/ ALL classes will now be required to run the CIK/FIA pushback/drop down bumpers for the balance of the series. The driving standards of 2 classes in particular has necessitated this step.

3/ A separate addendum to the series regulations will also be published prior to Geelong to cover off the tyre & bumper changes along with a clarification to how the series points will be tabulated. Currently we state that we will count your 4 Final points positions and 4 Prefinal start positions. However there is also the mini enduro, which pays the same points as a prefinal. In reality drivers have 6 prefinal points scoring opportunities and 5 Final points opportunities. To clarify how the points will work, we will allow all drivers to drop one Final and one prefinal points scores.

Join the series at Geelong and you are still in the hunt to win the series!!!
